Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2021 Toyota C-HR- Video
Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be taking a look at the CURT 17 by 46 hitch mounted cargo carrier here on our 2021 Toyota CHR. So the CHR is a rather small crossover type SUV therefore we don't have a ton of cargo space. Now, depending on where we're gonna be going and what we're gonna be taking with us, if we have a large family that we're gonna be going on a large road trip, we're obviously gonna need some extra space to carry our gear. Well, there's a couple of different options for this. People like to put them on the roof with a roof rack in a roof mounted cargo basket and that's a great option, but really the downside of that is you're gonna be lifting those heavy suitcases onto the roof of the vehicle there and then taking them off. It's gonna be a little cumbersome. more

It's gonna be a great solution to get a little bit more space out of your 4Runner or maybe if you just don't wanna haul any dirty, muddy stuff you don't have to actually put it in the vehicle. That way you don't have to clean anything, you can just leave it out here on the cargo carrier and it's easy enough to spray off with a hose to clean it up, it's much better than cleaning your interior. Now it is aluminum, so it's lightweight, it's the one that we really like around here. Test fitted all the time, because it's light it's easy to get off that shelf and carry over here. more

Or instead of keeping it all in there, you can keep it out here and keep more leg room for everybody and all your passengers. Another option would be if you have dirty gear you're hauling maybe it's muddy, full of sand, you're coming back from the beach, or just smelly sports equipment. You can store it out here, outside the vehicle that way you can get in there and clean it and vacuum it's much easier to just spray this off with a hose and leave it outside than it is to clean the interior of your vehicle. It's gonna be made of a black powder coat steel it's gonna be nice and sturdy. more

And what's pretty cool about this one is this actually comes with a lot of different options for tying down things. And it has a special thing for your forked bike mounts, for if you want to bring a bike with you on your trip.Okay, so this is actually slightly longer than the usual cargo carrier. Evangeline: Hi, it's Evangeline from etrailer.com, and today we're looking at this Curt Cargo Carrier on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. Now, this cargo carrier is pretty useful for when you're going to the beach and you have sand and everything, so you just want to put there, you're hiking, you want to put your muddy stuff here, everything you don't want in your car can go in here.Okay. So for this cargo carrier, it's 24 by six feet, which is basically actually as long as I am tall and it has a 500 pound weight capacity. So it has this mesh bottom, which I actually prefer because it's small enough so things don't really fall out, but it's really easy just to hose off after a muddy or a sandy day. So it's easy to clean and we have here a little reflector tape so when you're driving on the road, that helps with safety as well.All right. So let's see how deep this cargo carrier is. more

Now this cargo carrier can be extremely useful for when you have muddy things from hiking or your drink coolers that are dripping everywhere, or even like I like to travel, all the extra luggage I have can go on here so that there's more legroom inside.You can use this for a lot of things. And there's a lot of space, let's look at the dimensions here. This is a 24 by 60 cargo carrier, so you can see there's a lot of space here, and it has wire mesh which I appreciate, especially when you're talking about the muddy hiking items or things that might drip around because it will go straight through this wire mesh. more

Maybe we're going on a road trip and we want to make sure we have as much space on the inside of our Highlander so we can move a lot of that gear to the outside. It's definitely a lot easier to load this up rather than any kind of cargo basket that may be on top of a roof rack. I don't know about you, but I'm a little bit on the shorter side so if I have a cooler or some larger, bigger gear, definitely a lot more convenient to put it back here than try to get it all the way up above my head.This is going to be a pretty decent size. more

Right now we have the etrailer aluminum cargo carrier loaded up. Now let's just go over some features of it for you guys, see how it's going to interact with your RAV4.To start, I want to point out having an aluminum cargo carrier is a great advantage. You're taking the amount of ton weight added to your vehicle and you're cutting it out by a lot, and when you compare it to a steel folding cargo carrier, so you're not going to have as much weight back there when it's empty and not as much weight even when it's filled up. You're still going to have a 500 pound weight capacity, which is right in line with a lot of other cargo carriers we carry, so you're not really sacrificing too much there.As far as storage space for it, we'll measure inside rail to inside rail. more

So let's get started.So initially, it is going to be a true 24 by 60, and these rails here are going to stick up about five and a half inches. It is all going to be made of steel, and we're going to get about 500 pounds of carrying capacity with this carrier. You will need to have a two inch hitch receiver to be able to use this product.So let's go over just some of the things I kind of like, one is just the mesh bottom, just because if you have wet gear or even if you're driving in the rain, it's not going to just sit in there and just kind of puddle up, and maybe rust stuff away. We have a nice powder coated finish that'll help prevent that, but this floor is going to do most of it. more

Ryan: How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com.Today on our 2011 Toyota Sienna, we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Explorer hitch mounted cargo carrier.Cargo carrier's going to help you get a couple of different things done. Can either carry some additional cargo that you normally couldn't fit on the inside, or you can take all the stuff that you do normally carry inside, put it outside, freeing up some more space for family and friends.This actually is one of the bigger carriers available, which is a good thing, being that the Sienna is typically more of a family vehicle. And those owners have a lot of stuff to carry around.It's going to measure 24 inches long, 60 inches wide, and 5 and a half inches deep, which is going to be plenty big enough to fit on those full size coolers, camping gear, sporting equipment, whatever you may have.Now our carrier is going to extend the overall length of our van. By exactly how much, we'll take a measurement. From the bumper to the edge of the rack, it's going to be about 32 inches. That's something to keep in mind whenever you're pulling into your garage or even into a tight parking spot.Now as far as the ground clearance here at the back of the carrier, from our lowest point to the ground is right at 13 inches, which isn't super high up, but it's also not very far down. more

This is great for items such as stability scooters, generators, or lawn care equipment like a mower.Another great thing I like about this, especially with our Highlander here, is that we still have full access to our hatchback here as the tailgate'll open up and it'll clear our carrier so we don't need to store our items in the back. We can put our heavy equipment here and easily get back here for our smaller lighter items. Now, whatever you're going to be hauling on your cargo carrier, you want to make sure you have it tightened down and secure.We're using Smartstraps 500 pound ratcheting straps to keep our generators secure. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Toyota Four Runner, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks' Hitch-Mounted Cargo Carrier, that's part number: HR1485.I've already got it loaded up, just to give you a good idea of what it looks like attached to our Four Runner. Now right away I'd like to point out that this can also be in addition to the Hollywood Racks' Sport Rider SE2. This actually plugs into the back of that 2-bike rack, allowing you to carry two bikes and cargo. That part number of that bike rack is: HR1450Z.Let's go ahead and give you some dimensions. The inside dimensions are: 52 and a 1/2 inches long by 15 and 9/16ths of an inch wide, and it's 5 inches deep.As you can see, it's a basket-style design. The tubular side rails and floor are going to be easy to clean. more

Malone Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Toyota Sienna- Video

This does have a carrying capacity of 500 pounds and it measures 60" long by 19" wide by 2" tall. It has this nice mesh floor at the base here so it's not going to hold water and it's going to be easy to clean as well. Around the edge here you can see these points. Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Toyota Highlander- Video
Today on our 2015 Toyota Highlander we're doing a test fit of the Curt 24 x 60 cargo carrier. That part number is C18152. Now we already have our car carrier installed here and we're going to take a few measurements to start off. Beginning with our ground clearance, we're going to have about 16.5", overall to our vehicle we're going to have about 36.75" and our closest point is going to be about 11.75". Now on our Highlander we do have a single passenger side exhaust. It is up underneath our fascia and behind our hitch, but it turns towards the ground so we shouldn't have to worry about carrying heat sensitive materials in a specific region on our carrier. The next thing we want to check is our hatch break over point, since we do have an automatic hatch. more

A couple measurements to give you here, from the edge of the bumper to our outer edge we've added about 30-1/2" to the rear of the vehicle. Our ground clearance is going to be about 14-1/2". Our closest point is going to be about 6-1/2" to this edge here. more

Now these cargo carriers are great for getting anything dirty, damp, or just freeing up space in your interior. While it's securely attached, let's go ahead and take a few measurements. You're going to be adding roughly 24-1/2" to the total length of the vehicle. As far as ground clearance goes, it's going to be right about 10" at the bottom of the basket. Now the closest point to the vehicle is going to be roughly 3-1/2". Now the cargo basket, it is made out of steel. more
